The Power of Consistency
This is Nicole.
I met her several years before she joined our gym. She had a few good friends who worked out with us, we were Facebook friends, and I would see the workouts she posted that she was doing on her own. And then one day, when we were out of town, Jess, who was coaching with us at the time, texted me to tell me that Nicole had set up a time to come in for an intro and signed up, and I remember saying, “About time!”
I thought Nicole was going to be a great fit for our culture and I thought she would love it. But man, I had no idea! She got all the way in. She does or has done almost literally everything we offer: nutrition coaching, 1-on-1 work, special events, specialty training, parties, community events… if it happens, she will be there. (My daughter once talked about her and said, “You know Nicole? Nicole, who lives at the gym?”)
She’d been with us for just a couple of weeks when she e-mailed me and included this line: “Am I supposed to be doing anything else during this [first] 90 day period? …I just wanted to make sure I was taking advantage of everything and that I didn’t miss anything.” It’s one of the best questions I’ve ever gotten from a member and speaks to why she’s had such incredible success over the last few years.
She’s so open and so eager to learn more, to go deeper, to try, to fail, to experiment, and to be coached. What has come out of that for her is incredible success. Even now, almost 5 years and 1,000 classes in, she’s still gaining muscle, still getting stronger, and still developing new skills.
Nicole’s journey hasn’t always been easy, and it’s had powerful struggles and triumphs. She is a joy to coach. I’m so grateful for her trust over the years, so proud to be able to witness what she does, and I am so honored to call her a friend.
That’s not at all to suggest that 5 years and 1,000 classes is a guarantee of a specific set of results. But it IS to say that the “secrets” of her success are 1) being consistent, 2) asking questions, and 3) doing what her coaches tell her to do. That’s it. She’s the 9th person in our gym to hit 1,000 classes, and all of them move and operate in the world way differently now than before their first class.
And the kind of powerful transformation that comes with those three things is available to anyone, regardless of talent, regardless of genetics, regardless of experience. We’ve seen it time and again. And it’s available to you too.
