You’ve probably seen as many “Never Miss A Monday” memes and posts as I have.
I get it. Set yourself up for a successful week, hold yourself to a high standard, etc., etc.
But here’s the thing… there’s also real life. Sometimes you’re traveling. Sometimes you have to work overtime. Sometimes your kids are sick. If you’re not a professional, the odds are that there will come a time when you will miss a Monday.
It’s fine. Missing a Monday, missing a regularly scheduled Thursday workout, missing your nutrient goals for the day, missing your sleep goal one night, missing whatever habit you set for yourself is fine. It will happen. And that’s ok, because life is about more than meal prepping and getting in your favorite workouts.
Here’s the actual secret to building and maintaining habits long-term… it’s not “never miss a Monday…” it’s never miss TWO Mondays.
Whatever long-term habit you’re working on, don’t sweat it when you miss a day. But don’t miss two days in a row. Get back on the horse and just keep going.
And when you can do that for days in a row, and then weeks, and then months, and then years? You will have missed some days, but the changes you will have made will be nothing short of magical.
